Retail confectioners Candy Rox have recently opened their first outlet store in the town of Rye, New York – completed by local-based interior design firm d-ash design. The space offers customers a unique mixture of traditional Main Street candy store and urban contemporary American street themes borrowed from graffiti art, skate and surf culture with a bit of rock n’ roll. The shop has been styled with nostalgia-invoking vintage furniture, barrel lights and glass candy jars, alongside more modern elements that include the graffiti-tagged walls decked out with skateboards and bright pop-culture posters. A chain-link fence suspended from the ceiling creates a grid that accommodates theatrical lighting and decorative seasonal fixtures and promotions. The back of the store, clad in recycled timbers, features a small open lounge area that will be available for private party rentals. Plywood floors wrap up one side of the space to create a simulated skateboarding half-pipe, complimenting the overall concept. The store, located in downtown Rye aims to be a new hip destination for kids of all ages, selling everything from costume jewellery and posters to retro candy and headphones…
